Most flat irons should be used only on dried hair. Now some wet-to-dry flat irons can be used on damp (towel dried) hair.

  1. Apply styling cream and heat protection spray before flat ironing your hair for less heat damage and longer lasting hairstyle.
  2. Select heat settings (set appropriate temperature) for your hair. Usually, high heat setting for coarse or curly hair, and low heat setting for fine or color-treated hair.
  3. Part your hair in manageable sections. Take a one or two-inch section of hair and clamp down the iron as close to the scalp as possible. Slowly pull iron down the length of hair, keep iron moving. Continue until your hair has been straightened.
  4. Rub hair serum gloss over hair for extra shine and to keep hair in place.
